Teaching prosperity is not the problem but the mindset and wrong applications there by working on the psyche of innocent people because of their own selfish profit.

The problem basically with the preachers is the incessant teaching about material things and getting wealth as if that's the certificate to Heaven. The only way to Heaven is surrendering our lives to the only Begotten Son of God, Jesus Christ, and living daily in His grace for holiness and following peace with people around us.

When a preacher begins to tell people to pay a particular amount of money for prayers or fasting or for miracles to happen or to buy one material first or that, just know that that very fellow is not a true servant of God or he was but has backslidden. 

A true man of God doesn't threaten people, either in words or whatever form, to give to him personally or towards the ministry. Giving, according to the scriptures, is by the willing heart of the people when they understand that they are doing all things as unto the Lord not unto the preacher or man of God and should be as the Lord has prospered the people. 

As a true man of God, yours is to teach the people the word of God plainly without being sugar-coated or telling lies so that the people will bring money out from their pockets or purses or bank account. When need arises in the ministry, tell God who has called you into the ministry first and if you feel telling the people, tell them but not to begin to coarse them thereby turning the church to a den of robbers and prostitutes.

When a supposed preacher or man of God begins to love and respect those who have money and always give to his support or the work in the ministry specially at the detriment of the souls in the ministry, he is only making himself a younger brother to Gehazi and Judas Iscariot because very soon, those people, when they misbehave or sin and you hear about it, you won't be able to do anything or if you want to, you begin to find ways around it to treat the case with a levity hand or in a mild way_ you have backslidden already but still occupying position like king Saul.  

God wants our prosperity. The Bible says so over and over but not deceiving people in the Name of God to get money from them.

God has no desire in the poverty of His children. For the children of God to be begging for food, most especially from unbelievers, doesn't in any way give glory to God. God Himself wants us to be givers not borrowers. 

If you are a pastor and members of the church or people give you gifts and you are sure it's not to silent your conscience or for any form of ulterior motives, and you are sure that their source of income is clean, not stolen money or through other dubious or ungodly ways, please, collect.

If l am celebrating and members of the church or associates surprise me with gifts, in cash or in material, it's not to reject them, but be sure it's not to silent my conscience. IT'S A GIFT.

 

If after you have received and later find out it's to silent your conscience or the source is ungodly, please, take the bold step, repent of your mistake and return such gift immediately.                   

The husband man is also worthy to partake of the fruits of his labour, but, please, having money or wealth or material possessions won't take anyone to Heaven without genuine salvation and consistent working with the Lord till the end... Neither will poverty take anyone to Heaven. 

Father Abraham was wealthy, yet a friend of God. Isaac was wealthy and served God ultimately. Jacob was prospered by the Lord yet always remembered God till his last breath ceased. What shall I say of King David, king Hezekiah, king Josiah, Cornelius, etcetera?

Please, our Father in heaven, prosper the works of our hands and specially favour us by making ways for us where it seems there's no way, as Your dear children while we are still here on earth that we may use our riches and wealth to serve You ultimately, help people around us materially and financially; and at the end of all things, to be with You in Heaven.
