THE CHURCH AND THE NEXT GENERATION

THE_CHURCH_AND_NEXT_GENERATION

Have you thought of this? A pastor, a woman leader, fathers, mothers, aunts, uncles, etc who are Christians will be addressing the younger generations especially the teenagers and young adults on fundamental factual discourses either as counsels or when preaching generally in a programme in the church, they will begin to quote from Genesis to Revelation and the young ones are already dozing off.

Many atimes, we have got to say that some of them don't have interest in the word of God, may be, l had done that before too, but, l am seeing more than that now.

Hold on, these are the same Bible references they have been quoting to them in different programmes since they were in children church, some of them grew up memorising the Bible in the children church, even now, they still have personal Bible reading aside Christian Religious Knowledge classes and family devotion.

Have you observed that many youths don't open their Bible many atimes once they observe you are quoting from here and there?

Some preachers will even be quoting without explaining or portraying what they are quoting and reading. Hold on, sir, do you mean we don't all read our Bible at home, sir? We want you to teach us the Bible not to read the Bible to us.

Explain, cite examples, contemporary examples, and in fact, use your personal life in the past, positive and if possible, negative, possible mistakes you have made or you mean you have never made a mistake before?

Challenges faced and successes made by the grace of God; so that when they too are faced with similar challenges, they have the assurance that if so so and so they know one on one have gone through this and that and came out, they too will surely win.

Even some parents can't tell their own children about their past but they can tell them about father Abraham's, how the children of Israel do this and that. Don't misunderstand me, please, these are the unchanging word of God. Quote them and explain to them then use examples to buttress.

When a youth leader is quoting bible om academic success and campus life, and he is quoting Daniel, Joseph...sir,you mean you didn't experience anything too on campus? C'mon!

You see, most people, when they leave the service, what they will never forget are the personal experiences shared and these keep them going even when they read the Bible more or years in life after then.

Have you heard many fathers and mothers in the Christian faith, l am not referring to the GOs and GS but our own local government, regions, parishes, etc preach or talk or counsel on marriage? They will be quoting Genesis to Revelation as if the younger ones haven't read the Bible before.

Do you mean your beautiful marriage to our handsome daddies and mummies is a mystery that you can't tell us how you met, what you went through before you got married and successes and possible mistakes or challenges or you are both angels?
